The city of Wedel is developing the Elbufer BusinessPark on the site of the former mineral oil plant in Wedel. Due to the historical use of the site, the soil and groundwater were contaminated with pollutants. Remediation has been and is being carried out:

• Remediation of soil and groundwater contamination
• Master plan procedure with subsequent urban land use planning
• Construction of transport infrastructure and supply and disposal facilities
• Laying a district heating pipeline
• Relocation and operation of a groundwater purification plant
• Preparation of harbour area for subsequent use
